Renew Vehicle Registration

If you meet Florida's residency requirements, you are required by law to title and register your vehicle with the State of Florida. If you are not sure if you qualify, please refer to Section 320.01 F.S. Motor vehicle registrations and decals are renewable up to three months in advance.

Renew Vehicle Registration

Vehicle registrations must be renewed on or before the designated expiration date located on your registration. Failure to renew the vehicle registration before the 11th day of the month following expiration will result in a penalty charged upon renewal.

When registering an automobile, proof of current Florida automobile insurance is required in paper form or electronically, including the insurance company’s name, policy number, and the vehicle which is insured (Re: VIN). Note: State law excludes motorcycles from the proof of insurance requirement.

Ways to Renew…

·       You may renew your license plate registration in person at your Tax Collector’s Office, using the overnight drop box, or by mailing the registration card to the Tax Collector with your check or money order. Please include the mail fee and insurance information when renewing by mail or using the drop box.

·       You may also renew over the internet by going to MyDMV Portal. Additional fees will be added for mail or internet renewals.

MILITARY

Florida residents on military assignment outside of Florida, are not required to submit proof of Florida insurance coverage. The exemption does not apply to vehicles registered solely in the name of a non-military spouse or dependent(s) of the military member. Please visit the state website https://www.flhsmv.gov/military/motor-vehicle-registrations/ for further information on requirements needed for renewals.

The State of Florida also provides several military plate options on its website. https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/specialtyplates/military_brochure.pd
